About Biochemistry
Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes within and relating to living organisms. It is a laboratory-based science that brings together biology and chemistry, using the methods of chemistry, physical chemistry, and physical biochemistry to investigate biological phenomena at the molecular level.
By understanding the chemical basis of biological processes, biochemists can develop new drugs, diagnose disease, and solve environmental problems. The field has been fundamental to our understanding of genetics, immunology, and nutrition, among many other areas.
Our work in biochemistry focuses on exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying various biological processes and developing applications in medicine, agriculture, and environmental science.
